KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has promised a transparent and development-focused budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, with key investments in water, solar energy, education, and healthcare. He made the remarks during a high-level cabinet meeting held on Saturday to review and finalize budget proposals.
The chief minister emphasized the importance of inclusive planning, noting that proposals were collected from all districts under the guidance of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “We want to create a budget that reflects the real needs of our people and delivers direct benefits,” he said.
Key priorities for the upcoming budget include expanding clean water and drainage systems, boosting solar energy access, improving education and health facilities, and supporting agriculture and industry. Murad noted that this year’s budget focused on completing ongoing projects, but the upcoming one will introduce new, people-driven initiatives.
The cabinet also discussed support for flood-affected areas, repairs to public schools and hospitals, and new infrastructure projects through Public-Private Partnerships. Proposals to cut non-development expenses, empower local governments, and expand social protection programs were also considered.
Moreover, suggestions included introducing digital cash transfers, increasing solar energy use in rural areas, and building new bus terminals to improve public transport across Sindh. Murad highlighted the need for close coordination with the federal government to ensure financial stability and effective planning.
“We will hold more meetings after Eid to finalize the budget. Our aim is to present a transparent and development-oriented plan that improves lives in every corner of Sindh,” Murad concluded, reinforcing the province’s commitment to sustainable growth and social equity.
