RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Government has decided to shift over 700 primary government schools located in Rawalpindi Division to solar energy. The Punjab Government has also directed the district education authority Rawalpindi Division to prepare a list of education institutions, which are lacking the facility of electricity. According to sources, around 380 primary schools of Rawalpindi Division are lacking the electricity facility. The Punjab Government has directed the authority to install solar energy system in those schools at urgent basis. The provincial education department has directed the authority to shift the schools located in rural areas of Kotli Sattain, Kahuta, Murree, Taxila, Kalar Syedain and Gujar Khan to solar energy. The Government schools would be shifted to solar energy in different phases; while in the first phase over 700 primary schools in Rawalpindi Division would be shifted.
