ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Islamabad on Thursday restrained the management of Centaurus Mall from charging entry fee from the general public.
The Deputy Commissioner served notice to the mall to file its comment in this regard within a period of three days. In case of non-compliance with the direction, the authorities warned that a strict action will be taken against the management of the mall.
“This is tantamount to breach of fundamental rights of citizens,” the notice stated.
The issue of exorbitant entry fees had surfaced months ago when several customers and residents of the city highlighted the issue on social media.
Two years after its opening, the mall imposed an entrance fee of Rs.100 in 2015. The amount was adjustable against shopping at the mall on the same day, but now the fee has been raised to an exorbitant level.
The mall includes a 36-floor hotel, three 23-floor residential and office towers and a five-storey shopping mall with three skyscrapers.
