UMT holds research excellence awards ceremony

UMT has given cash awards above worth Rs 140 million in the last 5 years to its students, alumni and faculty for conducting research says Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) celebrated its Research Excellence Awards 2022-2023 ceremony attended by Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza, Director ORIC and Innovation Prof. Abid Sherwani, Dean ORIC Dr. Sammia Shahid, Registrar Raja Muhammad Nasir, Deans, Directors, and top researchers.

During the ceremony, prestigious awards were presented in various categories, including the High SCOPUS H-Index Researcher Awards, the Highest annual Scopus listed Publications Award and high citation per paper awards. A total of 105 UMT Faculty, students and alumni were honored with Research Excellence Awards for their outstanding contributions.

In his address, Rector Dr. Asif Raza congratulated the award-winning faculty members, commending their exceptional efforts in advancing research. He said that we pay tribute to the outstanding efforts of our researchers who won the Research Excellence Awards. This success is a testament to their relentless hard work, which plays a pivotal role in boosting our institution forward. Dr. Raza also expressed that UMT would soon be classified among Green Category universities, emphasizing the importance of producing top-notch researchers for the development of the nation. The promotion of research-based higher education is the top priority of UMT says Rector

Director ORIC and Innovation Prof. Abid Sherwani highlighted the significance of the event stating that we have over 300 foreign qualified PhD faculty who are preparing the young generation for national development. This ceremony aims to motivate our faculty members to explore new dimensions in research. Under the Young leadership of UMT President Ibrahim Hassan Murad, the university is on track to rank among the world’s best institutions.

The ceremony concluded with Dr. Asif Raza and Prof. Abid Sherwani distributing the Research Excellence Awards to faculty members, followed by cake-cutting on the occasion.
