ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Friday invited former federal minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada to join the PPP. The offer was made during a telephonic conversation between Zardari and Pirzada, sources claimed. Pirzada resigned from his post as a protest for reducing his powers and the action taken against the Sports director general without his approval. The PM has not accepted his resignation so far. Zardari contacted Pirzada and expressed his willingness to visit his residence. “Pirzada said that he had a strong affiliation with former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. However, he did not express his willingness to leave the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz,” sources said. The PM had appointed Ejaz Gul as minister for interprovincial coordination. Pirzada tendered his resignation on April 28.
