ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit,said on Saturday that Pakistan would not compromise on principles of national security. In an interview with an Indian newspaper, Basit asserted: “Pakistan is a responsible state and will not compromise on principles for temporary gains.” He stated that Pakistan wanted to hold meaningful dialogue with India.”If not now, then five years from now, both countries will eventually have to resolve their issues through dialogue,” he believed. Talking about the recent verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), he said: “Jadhav was not going to be hanged immediately.” He stated that Pakistan was on solid grounds regarding the issue, adding that the very case testified the fact that there were external elements behind terrorism in Pakistan. He commented that consular access to the RAW agent and issues related to granting his family visas would be decided on merit.
