Sir: This refers to the beating of the blind by the police in Lahore. Blaming Shahbaz Sharif, the chief secretary or the IG Police for the beating of the visually impaired is useless. It is the monarchical mindset that is to blame. This incident is an ideal case for the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice. It is good to hear that the chief minister has taken notice of this incident. Where are human rights activists? Full credit goes to the media for reminding the government of its responsibilities and keeping such issues alive. Adopting resolutions in Assemblies will not compensate for the cruel act committed on the blind. The minimum the chief minister can do is apologise to the nation and give all those 200 people baton-charged on December 3 appointment letters. Mukhtar Ahmed Karachi
