Sir: What kind of society is this? A peaceful vigil to commemorate a progressive, dynamic man, Mr Salmaan Taseer, was attacked by hooligans brandishing knives and their hateful personalities. It is lucky the peaceful people attending the vigil were not harmed. How can we tolerate living in a nation that does not allow us to mourn those have passed in peace? The attack on the vigil demonstrates that Pakistan has left tolerance and altruism far behind. We are sorry Mr Taseer, this country was just not worthy of your strength and determination to defeat the odds. FARAH YOUSAF Lahore
