Upper Dir councillors have more important things to do than work

Published on: December 29, 2016 6:17 AM

UPPER DIR: Irresponsibility shown by members of the district council of Upper Dir the council is losing its effectiveness as most of the elected district councillors have not been showing their interest to attend sessions of the council.

Due to which the council was facing difficulties in completing quorum of at least 16 or 17 members require of the 49- member council which is mandatory for the holding the council summit according to local government rules and regulations.

The district council meeting had been postponed on Dec, 20, due to failing in complete quorum for session. Only a few members of the council had come on that day for attending the meeting however most of the members were absent and due to which the meeting had to postpone.

The situation remained the same when only a few members out of 49 had come for attending summit the other day on scheduled time, 10:00 am. Heads and representatives of various departments and media persons had reached before the scheduled time and waiting for starting of the meeting.

However the summit couldn’t start at 12:15 pm and those officers had been waiting of starting of the meeting and got frustration. They were watching the completely empty chairs of the district council hall.

The officers complained that they would not come to attend the summit in future when those members themselves were not interested and keen to attend the summit. They said that there was being wasted their worthy time because lots of people would have been come in their respective offices waiting for them. Round about 12:30 pm when convener, Hanifullah advocate, along with a few members entered into council hall for holding the summit the Jomaat-e-Islami’s members including Imam Hussain, from Shahikot ward, Ziaur Rehman, Patrak ward, Malak Inayat Said, Sheringal ward and Saiful Islam, Dislawar ward went out and denied from attending the council summit. They said that they had come at 8 am for meeting and were waiting but their other colloquies were not serious and keen in attending meetings of the council. And thus their precious time was being wasted. However they were pursued for attending the meeting after negotiations with them led by convener and district ameer of the JI, Hanifullah.

The council summit was held after hardly completed the quorum attended by 20 to 21members out of 49. The council also failed to pass the lonely resolution presented regarding keeping restore the chairmen and members of various committees that were made previous year after rejected by the majority of the members both from government and opposition sides.

The District Nazim Sahibzada Faseehullah that he was also feeling that members of the council were not keeping their interest in attending meetings of the council however he would try his best to pursue members for attending summit in next summit they would be participated actively.
