Good relations with military the real worry for PML-N

Published on: July 20, 2016 11:04 PM

ISLAMABAD: Although Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced a fresh protest movement against government, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N senior leaders are more worried about civil military relations at the moment, sources told Daily Times.

Sources were of the view that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had spent three days at Islamabad, Murree and Rawalpindi and met key players of the power corridor. He held a long meeting with army chief General Raheel Sharif before meeting with the ambassadors of US, China And Saudi Arabia and discussed with them key issues relating to Pakistan’s current political situation, sources told.

He also held a meeting with the angry parliamentarians of PML-N at Donga Gulli Murree and on Wednesday held detailed discussions with his elder brother and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar. Sources said that after consultations, the prime minister decided to come to the federal capital despite being unwell.

The prime minister is expected to chair some key meetings on national and internal security issues. He will also address the envoy conference later this week to form a new strategy regarding Kashmir, official sources told.

But the Shahbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar meeting with the prime minister was much important as the three discussed the current political situation. Sources revealed that the situation would be better if a meeting could take place between the two top personalities and Shahbaz Sharif. Interestingly in these meetings interior minister Chaudhry Nisar was not involved in any way.
