KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah submitted his resignation to Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan at Governor House on Wednesday afternoon.
The governor accepted Shah’s resignation and convened a session of the Sindh Assembly on Friday to elect the new leader of the House.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) nominated Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah the new chief minister of the province on Tuesday. Syed Murad Ali Shah was also present at outgoing chief minister’s meeting with the governor.
Earlier, Shah called on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House on Wednesday. At the meeting, Zardari eulogised Shah’s services for the party and the province. He said the PPP would continue to seek guidance from Shah in future. He said that Shah was a great asset to the party and he stood by three generations of the party through every thick and thin.
On this occasion, Shah endorsed party leadership’s decision to install a new chief minister in Sindh and said he would continue to serve the party.
Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Archives Moula Bakhsh Chandio paid a farewell visit to Shah and said that nominated chief minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah would start a new era of social, economic and political development in the province, where peace, education and development would thrive. “After getting vote from the Sindh Assembly on Friday, the new chief minister will take all political stakeholders on board and take all decisions as per law. Peace and the rule of law in Sindh will be his top priority,” Chandio said in a statement.
