Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky not ‘living separate lives’

Published on: October 26, 2016 2:30 AM

Heard the rumour that Chris Hemsworth’s marriage is in trouble?

Neither had he until late Sunday night. Monday’s issue of Australia’s Woman’s Day, however, claims Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky’s relationship is “on the rocks”, as they have been “living separate lives”. According to a source, “They’ve decided they need space, and they’ve been taking a little break from each other.” Hemsworth has been shooting ‘Thor – Ragnarok’ in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, while Pataky flew to Spain last month with their kids. The bottom line, the tabloid said, is that the couple’s marriage “may not be as picture perfect as it appears”.

Oh, the irony-Hemsworth shot down the report using a picture! Posing next to Pataky while overlooking the ocean, he wrote, “Looking for a new wife according to @womansdayaus and other misleading outlets! Honey you still love me right?” Tagging Pataky, 40, in the Instagram caption, Hemsworth, 33, added, “#thanksfortheheadsup.”

Pataky shared another happy photo via Instagram Monday, writing, “Ahora y siempre ! Always and forever!”

Hemsworth and Pataky married after just a few months of dating in 2010. “It just felt right,” Hemsworth recalled on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ in March. “It made sense. There was no great plan to any of it to be honest, we were on holiday and we said, ‘Why don’t we get married, too?’ And then the next minute…There probably should have been some planning, but it all worked out. Honestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said, ‘This is a good opportunity with everyone together’. So, we just did it.”

In the years that followed, the couple welcomed a daughter and twin sons. After living in the United States for several years, the family relocated to Hemsworth’s native Australia in 2015. By his own admission, fatherhood is Hemsworth’s greatest achievement. “It’s not about you anymore, which is refreshing,” he said. “My kids are hilarious and insane and crazy. It’s good.”

Life is good with Pataky, too-as it’s always been. “There was no light bulb moment,” he told Elle in 2015. “From the first time we met, we just made sense. She’s fun. She’s outgoing, and she has a sense of humor and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try to keep up with.”

Hemsworth learned a lot about what it takes to make a marriage work from watching his own parents over the years. “They had a sense of adventure that I certainly picked up on. We moved around a lot, from Melbourne to the outback to coastal Victoria to Sydney, and it was great; I think that’s part of why I’m attracted to this business-there’s so much movement and travel,” he said. “And my wife is the same, so this style of life suits us. It breaks up the routine.”
