On a goodwill visit, Pakistan Navy Ship ‘ASLAT’ arrived 1,100 Kilometers South of Muscatat at Salalah Port in Oman. A joint exercise with Oman Navy was conducted while concluding the visit. The Commanding Officer Captain Shafiqur Rahman met Commanding Officer Salalah Naval Unit and Commander 11 Infantry Brigade and discussed matters of common interest and conveyed greetings from Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi to his counterpart Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Raisi and Royal Navy of Oman.
The vessel is operating under the ‘Regional Maritime Security Patrol’ (RMSP) initiative aimed at ensuring presence along critical choke points to fulfill international obligations for Maritime Security Operations while maintaining a robust security posture at strategic points within Pakistani waters.
Earlier, a Diplomatic Reception on board the ship was hosted on June 17th by Commanding Officer Captain Rahman to mark the visit. Representatives from Sultan Armed Forces and Pakistani community participated in the event, whereas Deputy Head of Mission Salman Athar and Defense Attache Captain Rizwan Ali Munawwar represented the Embassy of Pakistan.
The visit comes within the existing framework of bilateral cooperation and exchanges. ASLAT is a front line warship indigenously built at Karachi Shipyard and is fitted with state of art equipment for undertaking maritime operations in a multi-threat environment.
