ISLAMABAD: The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) and Tobacco-Smoke Free Capital (TSFC) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to educate students on the hazards of tobacco usage.

Director Office of Research Innovation and Commercialisation Dr Karamat, Technical Advisor Dr Fouad Aslam, TSFC Project Director Muhammad Aftab Ahmed and academics were present.
Brigadier Gondal in his address said NUML had already been declared as a no-smoking university. He also discouraged the youth from engaging in this hazardous habit.
He said that NUML in collaboration with TSFC could effectively fight against tobacco smoking in university premises by conducting awareness seminars and workshops.
The DG added that NUML would strictly abide by the Tobacco Control Laws of the government and leave no stoneunturned in this regard. He further said that awareness seminars could help faculty and students to quit smoking.
While speaking on the occasion Dr Minhajus Siraj lauded the role of NUML in controlling the tobacco smoking in the university.
He said that TSFC was a project of CADD and strengthening the Tobacco-Smoke Free Islamabad Initiative was an extension of the Islamabad Model City Project. He hoped that NUML and TSFC would work together to make the capital a tobacco free city.
