The Cantt General Hospital administration has suspended two of its doctors for holding a press conference against the harassment of Cantonment Board officers.
The female doctors, accompanied by male colleagues, had held a press conference on Friday at the Rawalpindi Press Club, alleging that officers of the Cantonment Board harassed lady doctors, nurses and their family members after they failed a writ petition at the Islamabad High Court against the health policy.
After holding the press conference, Cantonment Board Chief Executive Officer Sibtain Raza issued a letter on Friday saying, “Due to the involvement in the activities causing breach of discipline, inconvenience to the patients visiting the Cantonment General Hospital, gross misconduct on their part and clear violation of the rule, the services of Dr Noreen Iqbal and Dr Hassan Haider has been dispensed.”
Dr Nadia Iqbal, who was also present in the press conference has also been transferred from Rawalpindi to Karachi. A letter issued by the CEO on Friday, claimed that Dr Nadia Iqbal is directed to report for duty to the CEO, Karachi.
The victim doctors said the administration is using their powers to scare the employees of the hospitals to take back their writ petition filed against the health policy.
“We will challenge the order in the court today (Monday),” they said.
