Published on: March 29, 2018 3:53 AM

ISLAMABAD: The Role of Universities in Safeguarding Young Minds is the theme of the 27th International Cultural Exhibition organised by the girl’s campus of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI).

Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf was the chief guest at the ceremony which was held at Fatima Tuz Zohra Auditorium, Girls Campus of IIUI Sector H-10.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said that the university was imparting quality education not only to national but to international students as well and such activities were necessary for emerging youth where students were involved outside their classrooms. He said that IIUI is providing religious as well as scientific education to national and international students and IIUI has gained a significant place as an international educational institution. The minister hoped that students after completing their education will play their positive role for national and international peace and progress.

The ceremony was also attended by Senator Sitara Ayaz, IIUI Rector Professor Dr Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, IIUI President Professor Dr Ahmed Yousaf Al Draiweesh, diplomats, academicians, faculty members and a large number of female students of national and international identities.

Senator Sitara Ayaz in her speech said that Pakistan was playing its due role for women empowerment, while she expressed satisfaction for female students who were studying at IIUI where they have been provided with the best platform for their growth and progress. She emphasised that one should seek help from the holy Quran because it’s a complete code for our practical life.

Dr Masoom Yasinzai said on the occasion that cultural events were such activities that remained with us throughout our lives.

“The youth are the future of any nation and our major objective of this university is to provide every facility to female and male students,” he said.

Professor Dr Ahmed Yousaf Al Draiweesh said that there is no doubt that educating girls has had a great impact on giving women the opportunity to actively contribute to the advancement of comprehensive development of society in all fields including political, social, cultural, economic, educational and other.

“Keeping this is view, the IIUI pays special attention to women,” he said.

He hoped that female students would be the best ambassadors of the university in their societies, and will serve their communities, by employing their education, training and experience for the service of their people and their communities, as the holy Prophet (PBUH) said, “The best people are those who are the most beneficial to other people.”

Student adviser Dr Nayla Jabeen also spoke on the occasion. After the inaugural ceremony, the director of the girls campus Dr Farkhanda Zia led the ambassadors and guests to visit national and international stalls setup by the students of IIUI. The stalls presented the culture of different countries mainly China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Somalia, Thailand, Indonesia and Iran. Visitors also appreciated the national stalls representing Gilgit Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan. Students also displayed stalls representing their departmental activities at the campus.
