Nida Azwer steals spotlight on Day 2

Published on: March 12, 2018 1:31 AM

The fashion week craziness continued on the second day of 11th edition of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2018. However, one couldn’t help but notice how the red carpet was a little empty with very few known celebrities, socialites in attendance.

Day 2 started with late afternoon shows where Saira Rizwan, Rici Melion and Image showcased their high-street luxury collection. The fabrics used ranged from chickenkari lawn to organzas and sleek silhouettes. The menswear featured three-piece and two-piece suits with patch pockets and gold jacquard finish. Azfar Rehman walked the ramp as the celebrity showstopper for Rici Melion.

The solo show for the night was given to Nida Azwer who displayed her collection ‘The Mughal Court’. The prét collection was as all about trendy cuts and modern sleek silhouettes. The collection featured pastel coloured ensembles in blue, gold, ivory and gray. Moreover, the 3D beaded embellishments on gowns and trousers and blazers was definitely pleasing to the eye. The trend that followed in the collection was frilled necks and statement sleeves with heavily embellished blazers. The show stoppers for the designer were Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed who walked the ramp in a mauve and gold dresses respectively with edgy cuts. Adnan Malik walked the ramp in the gray fitted suit.

Next up was the grouped showcase by Shiza Hasan, Shirin Hasan and the finale by Saira Shakira. Shiza Hasan showcased her collection ‘Untamed Azalea’ with a soft pastel colour palette of pastels featuring A-symmetrical cuts and boxy silhouettes. The floral embroidered work and embellishments on the ensembles was something to look out for in 2028 trends. Moreover, the collection featured straight pants, beaded tassels, statement frilly sleeves and floor length straight gowns using silk, organza and net fabrics.

The second last designer for the night was Shirin Hasan who showcased her collection ‘The Colour Book’ using her signature block print style. The colour palette used was that of bold pinks, greens and black. The trendy silhouettes featured crop tops, floor length gowns, straight pants and culottes.

Last Luxury Prét collection to be showcased for the night was Saira Shakira’s ‘Canvas’. As the name of the collection suggests, the ensembles were all about contemporary art and modern abstract paintings inspired by Ian Davenport’s art used in wearable designs. The colour palette was pleasing to the eye especially as it fit the spring/summer feel to it with electric pinks, yellows, blues, whites and blacks. The silhouettes featured dramatic shoulders and sleeves, nipped waists cinched with wide belts zen like pants and contemporary prints.
