PM Shehbaz blames India for Pakistan terrorism

Published on: July 24, 2026 7:43 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused India of supporting terrorism in Pakistan by providing resources to militant groups. He also urged Afghanistan to prevent its territory from being used for attacks against Pakistan.

Addressing participants at the Balochistan National Workshop in Islamabad, the prime minister said terrorism had been eliminated by 2018. However, he claimed it later resurfaced as part of an organised conspiracy targeting Pakistan.

Shehbaz said around 90,000 Pakistanis had lost their lives in the fight against terrorism. He alleged that India’s role in supporting militant activities was evident and called on Afghanistan to act against militant elements operating from its territory.

Moreover, the prime minister said the Baloch and Pashtun communities had made significant contributions to Pakistan’s creation and national unity. He added that Balochistan required greater development resources because of its vast geography.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz highlighted ongoing development projects in Balochistan, including the solarisation of 27,000 tube wells and the Karachi-Chaman dual carriageway. He said the federal government had also allocated record funding for the province’s development.

Additionally, the prime minister expressed grief over the deaths of a sessions judge and a security official in the Mastung attack. He praised the armed forces and law enforcement agencies for their efforts to safeguard national security and maintain peace.

Therefore, Shehbaz called for greater focus on economic growth alongside security measures. He said Pakistan’s recent diplomatic achievements had gained international recognition and stressed the need to accelerate national development.
