PSX plunges nearly 2,700 points on regional tensions

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained under selling pressure on Thursday, losing 2,690.48 points, a negative change of 1.54 percent, to close at 171,739.45 points against 174,429.93 points recorded on the previous trading day.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 525.122 million shares with a traded value of Rs23.428 billion, compared to 695.697 million shares valuing Rs25.404 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization stood at Rs19.361 trillion, down from Rs19.626 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 493 active companies in the ready market, 91 advanced, 372 declined, and 30 remained unchanged.
Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 60.708 million shares, followed by Pak Refinery with 28.414 million shares and TPL Properties with 23.347 million shares.
The top gainers included Al-Abbas Sugar Mills Limited, which rose by Rs33.01 to close at Rs917.96, and The Thal Industries Corporation Limited, which gained Rs32.88 to settle at Rs1,081.25. On the losing side, PIA Holding Company LimitedB declined by Rs648.00 to close at Rs16,952.00, while Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited fell by Rs136.43 to settle at Rs1,227.87. In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 156.959 million shares with a traded value of Rs6.357 billion, compared to 171.452 million shares worth Rs7.169 billion in the previous session. Out of 302 futures-market companies, 25 advanced, 274 declined, and 3 remained unchanged.
