Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in Manila on Thursday. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-UK relations. They also discussed regional security and diplomatic efforts to promote stability.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum 2026. Dar congratulated Miliband on his appointment as the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary. He also wished him success in his new role.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the leaders discussed bilateral, regional and international issues. They exchanged views on the evolving regional security situation. The meeting highlighted the importance of continued diplomatic engagement between both countries.
Meanwhile, Miliband acknowledged the Pakistani diaspora’s contribution to the United Kingdom. He described the community as an important bridge for strengthening bilateral relations. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation.

Additionally, the leaders discussed recent tensions between the United States and Iran. Miliband appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation during the crisis. Both countries supported peaceful diplomatic engagement to address regional challenges.

The two officials also expressed concern over recent regional escalations. Therefore, they stressed the importance of sustained dialogue and diplomacy to achieve lasting peace and stability. They agreed that continued cooperation remains essential for regional security.
