Pezeshkian vows to defend Iran’s interests

Published on: June 30, 2026 6:37 PM

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed that Iran will not accept demands imposed by its adversaries under any circumstances. He said Tehran remains committed to defending national rights, core principles, and strategic interests during diplomatic negotiations. The remarks underscore Iran’s firm position as diplomatic engagement with the United States continues.

Speaking at a meeting with scholars at a seminary in Qom, Pezeshkian said the government approached negotiations with the United States from a position of dignity and strength. He stressed that the objective was to safeguard the rights of the Iranian people while protecting the country’s broader national interests. The comments were reported by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

Addressing questions about the negotiations, the president insisted that the Islamic Republic would never retreat from the nation’s rights or fundamental principles. He emphasized that no external pressure would force Iran to compromise its national interests. According to Pezeshkian, the country’s negotiating approach remains guided by sovereignty and independence.

The Iranian president also highlighted what he described as the country’s greatest sources of strength. He said faith in God, public support, and the country’s leadership continue to reinforce Iran’s resilience during political and diplomatic challenges. He suggested these factors have enabled Tehran to maintain a consistent position in international negotiations.

Pezeshkian’s remarks come as Iran continues diplomatic contacts with the United States over key issues. His comments signal that Tehran intends to pursue dialogue while maintaining what it describes as its national rights and strategic interests.
