
Actor, singer, and filmmaker Teyana Taylor emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 2026 BET Awards, taking home four major honours during the annual ceremony celebrating achievements by Black entertainers, musicians, athletes, and cultural figures.
Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the awards recognised Taylor with the prestigious Icon of the Year honour, presented by Janet Jackson. She also won the Fashion Vanguard Award, Best Actress, and Video Director of the Year for her short film Escape Room.
During an emotional acceptance speech, Taylor thanked Jackson for inspiring her career and reflected on her two decades in the entertainment industry. She said the recognition represented years of dedication and hard work, adding that she accepted the honour with gratitude rather than pride.

Music industry executive Sylvia Rhone received the BET Ultimate Icon Award in recognition of her decades-long contribution to the entertainment industry. Among the other notable winners, Cardi B secured the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award, while legendary singer Lauryn Hill was honoured with the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award. The evening celebrated excellence across music, film, and culture while recognising artists whose work continues to influence audiences worldwide.
