The International Hockey Federation (FIH) came under criticism after an error involving Pakistan’s national flag during the FIH Pro League hockey match in London.
According to the report, an embarrassing mistake occurred during the national anthem ceremony when Pakistan’s green-and-white flag was displayed without its white portion.
The incomplete flag was shown before the start of the match, drawing immediate attention from Pakistani fans and officials.
The incident sparked strong reactions on social media, where supporters criticised the organisers and demanded an explanation as well as a formal apology from the FIH.
Following the backlash, the event administration issued a written apology over the mistake. In a letter addressed to Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Wani, the League Director offered an unconditional apology for presenting Pakistan’s flag incorrectly.
The apology letter also assured that such negligence relating to the national identity and dignity of any participating team would not be repeated in future events.
