China backs Pakistan’s mediation efforts

Published on: June 22, 2026 9:18 PM

China has voiced support for Pakistan and Qatar’s mediation efforts in ongoing diplomatic contacts between Iran and the United States. The endorsement is significant because it reinforces international backing for dialogue aimed at reducing regional tensions. The development affects efforts to advance peace and stability in the Middle East.

Speaking in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun urged Iran and the United States to preserve the positive momentum achieved through recent negotiations. He said China hopes both sides will continue working toward constructive outcomes through dialogue. Beijing stressed that diplomatic engagement remains essential for resolving disputes.

Guo also welcomed mediation initiatives undertaken by Pakistan, Qatar, and other stakeholders involved in facilitating discussions. He said China supports all parties contributing to diplomatic efforts and conflict resolution. According to Beijing, such initiatives play an important role in promoting mutual understanding.

The remarks followed reports of progress in diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran after the conclusion of a first round of high-level talks in Switzerland. Pakistan and Qatar have highlighted developments achieved through continued engagement between the two sides. Observers view the talks as an opportunity to reduce tensions and encourage future negotiations.

China reiterated that diplomacy and negotiations remain the most effective path toward lasting and peaceful solutions. It called on all parties to work together to lower tensions and strengthen mutual trust. Beijing emphasized that continued dialogue is essential for maintaining regional stability and preventing further escalation.
