The election process remained largely peaceful, with voters turning out in significant numbers to cast ballots for the 24-seat Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. Early results from 18 constituencies indicated that the PPP had secured nine seats, placing it ahead of its rivals in the race to form the next regional government.

According to unofficial counts, independent candidates won six seats, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured two seats and Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) claimed one seat. Results from several constituencies were still being compiled at the time of reporting.

The PPP registered victories in multiple constituencies, including Nagar, Skardu and Shigar, strengthening its position across key districts. Among notable wins, Syed Tauqir Mehdi won in Skardu-1, Fida Muhammad Nashad secured victory in Skardu-3, while Imran Nadeem emerged successful in Shigar.

Independent candidates also performed strongly, particularly in Hunza, Ghizer and Ghanche districts. Several closely contested races remained undecided as counting continued in constituencies where results were based on partial polling station data.

In Ghanche-1, PML-N candidate Muhammad Ibrahim Sanai defeated his PPP rival, while MWM’s Muhammad Kazim secured victory in Skardu-2 after a closely fought contest.

Election officials reported a smooth polling process, with no major incidents affecting voting across the mountainous region. Security arrangements were put in place to ensure peaceful elections, and voter participation remained high throughout the day.
