On the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a historic and exemplary programme has been launched for the restoration of road infrastructure throughout Punjab. She has directed the authorities to ensure strict adherence to timelines, quality standards and transparency in all road construction, repair and rehabilitation projects.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that road construction and rehabilitation work under the “CM Local Roads” Programme is progressing rapidly towards completion in various districts across the province.
The chief minister also declared compliance with lane and line discipline mandatory in Lahore and all major cities of the province. She has already approved multi-billion-rupee transport infrastructure and bus stop projects in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Multan.
Under her directives, work is also under way on mass transit projects in Faisalabad and Gujranwala to provide modern travel facilities to the public. She has further ordered the implementation of a modern traffic management system in Lahore and other major cities of Punjab.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has made the installation of solar-powered streetlights mandatory on all newly constructed roads.
She said that multi-billion-rupee mega projects had been launched to improve road infrastructure and modernise the transport sector across Punjab. More than 30,000 kilometres of roads have already been constructed, repaired or rehabilitated throughout the province.
The chief minister added that the restoration of major highways in Murree had been completed under the “Restoration of Roads” programme to facilitate tourists and local residents alike.
Tribute to parents
Separately, Maryam Nawaz on Monday paid tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices made by parents in the upbringing and character building of their children.
In her special message on the occasion of the Global Day of Parents, the chief minister extended her heartfelt salutations to all parents and acknowledged their sacrifices, love and invaluable role in shaping the lives of their children.
Maryam Nawaz said this day is observed worldwide to raise awareness about the respect, rights and responsibilities associated with parenthood. “Parents are the greatest blessing in the world. Their love, prayers and guidance are the most precious assets for children,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz remarked that every success she had achieved in life was due to her parents. She said her mother and father, Nawaz Sharif, had always encouraged her to serve the poor and underprivileged.
The chief minister said that when she assumed the office of chief minister, her father had been her strongest source of encouragement and support. She reiterated that parents play a vital role in nurturing future generations and deserve the highest respect and appreciation from society.
