Authorities arrested hundreds of people in Paris after violent clashes broke out during celebrations of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League victory, turning a festive night into widespread disorder across the city. Security forces deployed in large numbers struggled to contain crowds that gathered in multiple locations.
According to the French interior ministry, 416 people were detained nationwide, including 283 arrests in Paris alone. Officials confirmed that seven police officers were injured during the unrest, while vehicles and businesses suffered damage amid escalating confrontations between supporters and security forces.

Furthermore, around 22,000 police officers were deployed across France, including 8,000 in Paris, as authorities attempted to prevent repeat disturbances from previous football celebrations. Despite these measures, tens of thousands of fans gathered on the Champs-Élysées, where tensions quickly escalated.
In addition, transport services were disrupted as tram lines stopped, metro stations closed, and bus routes were suspended in several areas to limit movement. Security teams also seized fireworks and flares while responding to attempts by groups to block roads and erect barricades in central Paris.

Meanwhile, clashes intensified near the Parc des Princes stadium, where thousands gathered to watch the final and celebrate the victory. Police used tear gas after some supporters reportedly threw projectiles, while others attempted to force entry into stadium gates and damage nearby property.
As celebrations continue, officials plan a major victory parade along the Champs-de-Mars near the Eiffel Tower, with an expected crowd of around 100,000 people. Authorities have pledged tighter security, while political reactions have intensified debate over public safety and crowd control during major sporting events.
