Security beefed up in Lahore

In view of Eidul Azha, security has been put on high alert across the city, while search operations and blockades are ongoing in different areas.

Police and other security agencies conducted joint search operations in different areas including Islampura, Akram Park and Shadbagh.

SP City Operations, Atif Amir personally supervised the search operations and visited the blockades set up at different places to review the checking process.

According to the police spokesperson, the details of suspicious persons were registered during the search operation, while identity cards were also checked.

The police also checked illegally residing persons, residential settlements, houses and tenants.

Along with a heavy contingent of police, other security forces also participated in the search operation, while supervisory officers and concerned SHOs were monitoring the operation and roadblocks in different areas.

SP City Atif Amir said that strict checking of suspicious persons and vehicles is being done by setting up roadblocks at sensitive locations so that a peaceful environment can be provided to the citizens.

Cattle, bicycle theft gangs become active

The administration on Sunday warned citizens to remain alert as cattle and bicycle theft gangs have once again become active in the city.

According to police records, this year, 225 cases of cattle, 88 bicycle theft were registered.

According to police records, Cantt Division leads with 24 cases of bicycle theft, 22 cases of bicycle theft were registered in Sadar Division, 14 cases of bicycle theft were registered in Model Town Division, 12 from City Division, 8 from Iqbal Town and Civil Lines Division, 8 bicycles were stolen.

According to the record, Cantt Division topped the list of cattle theft incidents with 72 cases, Saddar Division recorded 67, Model Town Division recorded 40 cattle theft cases, Iqbal Town Division recorded 24, City Division recorded 18 cattle theft cases, Civil Lines Division recorded 4 cattle theft incidents this year.

Minister appeals to public to not tie sacrificial animals near electricity poles

Provincial Minister for Energy Punjab, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, has appealed to the public to exercise extreme caution while tying sacrificial animals ahead of Eidul Azha.

He urged citizens not to tie animals near electricity poles, transformers, or hanging power lines, warning that even minor negligence can lead to serious accidents involving both human lives and valuable livestock.

The minister said that due to the increased movement of sacrificial animals before Eid, it is essential to adopt proper safety measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

He emphasized that citizens should carefully inspect the surroundings before tying animals and ensure that no hazardous electrical installations or exposed wires are nearby.

Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar also advised parents to instruct children to stay away from electricity poles, wires, and power installations to avoid accidents during the festive period.

He said the Energy Department and relevant authorities are fully alert to ensure public safety, but stressed that citizen cooperation is equally important.

The minister urged the public to strictly follow safety guidelines to protect both human lives and sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Azha preparations.
