Talha says Nadia learned her lesson

Published on: May 23, 2026 9:07 PM

Rapper Talha Anjum said host Nadia Khan likely learned not to mistreat guests after their controversial interview. The rapper revisited the incident during a recent podcast appearance with Mubashir Hashmi. The controversy originally erupted after Anjum draped an Indian flag over his shoulders during a concert in Nepal.

Hashmi defended Anjum during the podcast and described the flag as a fan’s gesture of admiration. He also criticised the backlash against the rapper and called the public reaction unfair. In response, Anjum explained he rarely gives interviews and prefers conversations that serve a meaningful purpose. Furthermore, he said several senior artists privately supported him because they understood fan interactions during international performances.

The discussion also focused on perceived double standards surrounding Pakistani and Indian entertainers. Hashmi pointed to Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh inviting Hania Aamir onstage during a concert, which many Pakistanis celebrated online. Anjum described the contrasting reactions to his own situation as hypocrisy. He argued that artists should not face hostility for respectfully acknowledging fans from different countries.

Speaking about Khan’s interview, Anjum revealed he appeared on the programme to explain his position publicly. However, he said the conversation quickly became uncomfortable because of the host’s aggressive tone. Anjum added that he corrected Khan respectfully and continued treating her with courtesy throughout the exchange. Nevertheless, he suggested the presenter likely learned an important lesson from the criticism that followed the interview.

The controversy initially intensified after Anjum declared online that he would “do it again” following the Kathmandu concert. Later, he issued an unconditional apology during Khan’s programme and admitted emotions influenced his reaction. Meanwhile, several celebrities criticised Khan’s interviewing style and compared her approach to aggressive Indian television debates. Actors Yasir Hussain and Khaqan Shahnawaz were among those who publicly condemned the host’s conduct.
