Published on: May 22, 2026 6:18 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday extended congratulations to the leadership and people of Pakistan and China on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The chief minister conveyed her good wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Communist Party of China and the people of China, while paying tribute to the everlasting friendship, enduring peace and mutual cooperation between the two nations.

“Long live Pakistan-China friendship. We reiterate our resolve to further strengthen our partnership,” she said.

CM Punjab said the friendship between Pakistan and China was a timeless example of mutual trust, respect and shared development. She added that China had always stood by Pakistan in every difficult time and fulfilled the true spirit of friendship.

She said Pakistan and China had consistently shared the same stance for peace, prosperity and stability, adding that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a harbinger of prosperity and a bright future for the people of both countries.

The chief minister termed the completion of 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations a historic milestone and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to a reliable strategic cooperative partnership with China.

She said Pakistan-China friendship was deeper than the oceans, higher than the Himalayas and stronger than steel, adding that the enduring friendship spanning 75 years would continue for generations.

CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz further said CPEC was a clear manifestation of economic cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said Pakistan was a hub of diverse cultures, languages, traditions and values, adding that cultural diversity was a reflection of national identity and civilisational heritage.

In her special message on the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, the chief minister said cultural diversity also promoted unity, positive values, tolerance and harmony.

She said the purpose of observing the international day was to raise public awareness regarding dialogue and development linked to cultural diversity.

CM Punjab said individuals who recognised the importance of civilisation, culture and shared heritage deserved appreciation.

She further stated that Punjab’s diverse cultural heritage was recognised around the world and represented the province’s identity globally.

The chief minister said the Punjab Information and Culture Department was actively working for the preservation of cultural heritage across the province.

She added that the protection of culture and patronage of artisans and creative individuals were among the government’s priorities.

“Ensuring access of Punjab’s skilled craftsmen to national and international markets is our commitment,” she said.
