‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ scheme tops world rankings, says Punjab CM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Punjab Pavilion at the World Urban Forum being held in Baku and visited various stalls set up at the Urban Expo.

Director General PHATA Zeeshan Sikandar briefed the chief minister on the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme at the pavilion. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed delight after the initiative was ranked among the top global innovations. She also reviewed housing projects being implemented in other developing countries.

The chief minister took a live virtual tour of the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme through interactive i-gadgets and also watched a documentary highlighting the construction journey of the project.

She interacted with the staff at the Punjab Pavilion and appreciated their efforts.

Speaking to foreign delegates at the pavilion, CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted the success of Punjab’s affordable urban housing initiative. International delegations praised her vision and public welfare measures.

Foreign media representatives and guests applauded the chief minister after watching the documentary film featuring beneficiaries of the housing scheme.

The inauguration ceremony of the Punjab Pavilion in Baku witnessed extensive participation from international media organisations.

Delegates, global representatives and media personnel also met the chief minister at the pavilion.

CM Maryam Nawaz said the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme was very close to her heart, adding that loans had been provided without discrimination to help the people of Punjab build their homes.

She said 600 to 700 houses were being constructed daily under the project and more than 100,000 houses had been completed within just one year under the scheme.

Guests and international media at the Punjab Pavilion appreciated the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ project and paid tribute to the chief minister. The Punjab Pavilion emerged as a major attraction for delegates attending the World Urban Forum, while international media described the Punjab government’s rapid implementation of the housing programme as a role model.
