A funeral prayer for martyr Liaquat Ali, the brave civilian who embraced martyrdom while attempting to foil a suicide attack near the Khushhal Garh check post, was offered with full state honors at Police Lines Attock on Tuesday.

A smartly turned-out contingent of Attock Police presented a guard of honour to the martyr in recognition of his extraordinary courage and patriotism.

The ceremony was attended by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa, Brigadier Hamid Mukhtar, Station Commander Artillery Centre Attock, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, District Police Officer Attock Sardar Mowarhan Khan, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza, along with senior officials from various departments, political and social figures, local elders and a large number of citizens.

Participants paid tribute to Liaqat Ali’s sacrifice, describing his bravery as an inspiring example of selflessness and devotion to the nation.

The officials said the martyr’s timely action helped save numerous precious lives, and his sacrifice would always be remembered with honour and respect.

A spokesperson for Attock Police said the department stands firmly with the bereaved family during this difficult time and remains committed to honouring the sacrifice of the martyr. Special prayers were also offered for the country’s peace and security and for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks in the hereafter.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced the nomination of Liaqat for the country’s highest civil award in recognition of his supreme sacrifice.

Paying rich tribute to the martyr, the chief minister said individuals like Liaqat Shaheed were the true heroes of the nation who rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the protection of the country.

She said Liaqat Shaheed set a remarkable example of courage, patriotism and devotion by laying down his life in the line of duty to save innocent people.
