Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training has directed authorities to contact Cambridge International over fresh allegations of examination paper leaks, as concerns grow among students and parents.
Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui asked the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) to immediately engage with Cambridge authorities following complaints that an AS-level Mathematics exam paper was leaked before Tuesday’s test.

Students claimed sections of the Mathematics paper had circulated on social media a day before the exam, raising fears about the fairness and integrity of the assessment process.
The latest controversy follows an earlier leak involving the Pure Mathematics 1 paper (9709), after which Cambridge International Education announced a retake scheduled for June 9.
Cambridge exams, widely taken by O and A level students in Pakistan and more than 160 countries, faced similar allegations last year when students and parents protested over multiple paper leaks.
Following parliamentary discussions and complaints from affected families, Cambridge acknowledged that three exam papers had been partially leaked in 2025 and adjusted grades for impacted students.
Expressing concern over the recurring issue, Siddiqui said such incidents create severe stress, anxiety and uncertainty for thousands of students who spend months preparing honestly for their exams.
He stressed that Cambridge must strengthen its exam security systems, monitoring protocols and operational safeguards to ensure papers remain secure and tamper-proof.
The minister also reiterated that the government would not compromise on merit, transparency or students’ educational futures.
Sources said the federal government has taken serious notice of the issue, with a high-level meeting expected at the Ministry of Interior involving officials from the education ministry, Cambridge and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.

Responding to the controversy, Cambridge said it investigates all leak allegations and warned of a deliberate effort to undermine exam integrity.
The organisation added that it is pursuing legal action in both Pakistan and the UK against individuals involved in sharing leaked or false exam materials online.
