Rescue 1122 sets up over 25 heat relief camps across Sindh

In view of the heatwave alert issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Sindh Emergency Rescue Service (Rescue 1122), in coordination with district administrations and other relevant institutions, has established more than 25 heat relief camps across the province to provide timely protection to citizens against the risks of extreme heat and heatstroke.

On the directives of Adviser to the Chief Minister Sindh on Rehabilitation, Giyan Chand Essarani, the camps have been set up in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad and several other districts, where more than 1,000 citizens are benefiting from the facilities daily.

Essarani said that special heat relief points had been established at Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi, Water Pump, Railway Station, DC South Complex, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Malir and other busy locations in Karachi, while relief camps were also functioning in Naseem Nagar, Alamdar Chowk and Tandojam in Hyderabad, as well as Ghanta Ghar in Sukkur, Mirpur Mathelo, Larkana, Mithi, Badin, Sujawal, Qambar and Shaheed Benazirabad.

He said the camps were providing cold drinking water, ORS, sharbat, first aid facilities and public awareness regarding prevention from heatstroke. Immediate medical assistance was also being provided to severely affected individuals along with arrangements for their transfer to nearby hospitals where required.

On the directives of Adviser to the Chief Minister Sindh Giyan Chand Essarani, fire and rescue units, emergency medical services and ambulance teams have been placed on high alert across all districts, while the Central Command and Control Centre is continuously monitoring the situation.

Essarani appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, increase water intake, take special care of children and elderly people, and immediately contact the Rescue 1122 helpline in case of any emergency. He added that Rescue 1122 Sindh would continue providing every possible assistance and rapid response services to the public during the heatwave.
