Paigham-e-Islam moot concludes with stress on national security, Muslim unity

The Sixth International Paigham-e-Islam Conference concluded here on Wednesday with a strong call for national security, unity of the Muslim world, and enhanced interfaith harmony, according to a joint declaration issued at the end of the proceedings.

The conference, organized by the Pakistan Ulema Council in collaboration with the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council, was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre.

Addressing a press conference along with a number of Ulema and Mashaikh from various schools of thought at the conclusion of this mega event, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for National Paigham-e-Aman Committee and Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, reaffirmed full support for the the government, armed forces, and national security institutions, acknowledging their efforts in safeguarding the country and congratulating the nation on recent achievements particularly triumph victory in Marka-e-Haq, Bunyan-ul-Marsoos which first anniversary was being celebrated across the nation and Pakistan’s diaspora abroad.

He emphasised upon the need for unity and cohesion within the Muslim Ummah, endorsing Pakistan’s stance on regional issues, including its position regarding Iran and relations with Arab and Islamic countries.

He strongly condemned attacks on Iran attributed to the United States and Israel, while also expressed concern over strikes targeting Arab countries, terming them detrimental to regional stability.

Highlighting defence cooperation, Ashrafi described the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia strategic partnership as a significant development for the Muslim world, noting that such collaboration could contribute to strengthening collective security among Islamic nations.

He also announced that the Seventh International Paigham-e-Islam Conference would be held in March 2027, with invitations to be extended to global religious leaders, including Imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Grand Mufti of Palestine, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and Pope, in a bid to promote inter-sect and interfaith harmony.

The conference condemned the killing of a prominent religious scholar, Maulana Muhammad Idrees Tarangzai stating that acts of violence, extortion, and lawlessness have no connection with Islam or Shariah, and expressed solidarity with state institutions in maintaining law and order.

Ashrafi further announced that efforts would be intensified to strengthen coordination among religious scholars across Pakistan and other Muslim countries, including the organization of similar conferences under the umbrella of International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council in different parts of the world.

In addition, prominent national and international figures were conferred on global honours at the Sixth International Paigham-e-Islam Conference, in recognition of their contributions to peace, stability and unity in the Muslim world.

According to the conference declaration, Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir was awarded the titles of “Leader of Peace” and “Greatest Victorious General of the Century” in recognition of his role in promoting peace and strengthening stability across the Muslim Ummah from the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council and Pakistan Ulema Council.

In a separate development, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was presented a shield of appreciation for his firm and unequivocal stance on key international issues, particularly Palestine.

Additionally, Prime Minister and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, who was awarded with the title “Global Personality of 2025”, was honoured to with a special award for contributions to defence cooperation with Pakistan, fostering unity in the Muslim world, and promoting peace at the regional and global levels.

Addressing the “Paigham-e-Islam” Conference, the Chairman of the Senate commended the organisers for convening a timely dialogue on an issue of global significance.

He underscored that Islam, as exemplified by the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), promotes justice, empathy, and benevolence.

He stressed that in an increasingly divided world, there is an urgent need to project the true message of Islam with clarity and consistency.

Highlighting Pakistan’s role on the global stage, the Chairman of the Senate reaffirmed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than confrontation.

He added that Pakistan has consistently demonstrated restraint, responsibility, and strategic prudence in promoting de-escalation and constructive engagement.

He paid tribute to the leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, for their statesmanship in recent regional developments, which contributed to easing tensions and advancing prospects for peace.

He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to a just, comprehensive, and durable peace based on mutual trust and continuous dialogue.

Referring to Pakistan’s parliamentary diplomacy, the Chairman highlighted his role as the founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC), describing it as a dynamic platform for fostering global dialogue and cooperation.

He said that the recent ISC session held in Islamabad under the theme “Peace, Security and Development” reaffirmed the vital role of parliaments in promoting global peace and stability.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to strengthening ties within the Muslim world, recalling the leadership of former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his historic initiative of convening the Islamic Summit in Lahore, which remains a cornerstone of Muslim unity.

The Chairman proposed enhanced coordination among key international forums, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Arab League, Inter-Parliamentary Union, ISC, and the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States, to develop a structured and institutionalised framework for dialogue, mediation, and peaceful dispute resolution.

Highlighting Pakistan’s principled approach to security and sovereignty, he said that Pakistan’s response through Operation Marka-e-Haq and Bunyan-un-Marsoos reflects a measured, lawful, and responsible strategy, defending national sovereignty while upholding a firm commitment to peace.

He reaffirmed that while Pakistan prioritises dialogue and stability, it remains resolute in safeguarding its dignity and security.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani called upon the international community to move beyond divisions and work collectively towards a world defined by peace, stability, and shared prosperity.

He reiterated that Pakistan stands ready not only to support this noble cause but to lead by example.
