Afridi to remain chief minister, says PTI

Published on: May 1, 2026 6:05 PM

PTI Chairman has reaffirmed that KP Chief Minister Soheil Afridi will remain in office despite political opposition. The statement signals internal party stability amid emerging challenges to his leadership. Party members and political observers are directly affected by the ongoing developments.

Speaking to media in Peshawar, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said Afridi enjoys full party backing. He added that Afridi was nominated by Imran Khan and continues to perform effectively. He rejected claims of internal divisions within the party.

Furthermore, Gohar dismissed reports of any forward bloc within PTI ranks. He insisted that all party members remain united behind Afridi’s leadership. He warned that efforts to undermine the chief minister would ultimately fail.

The remarks follow recent criticism from within the party. Sher Afzal Marwat had announced plans to challenge Afridi’s selection as chief minister. This development had raised concerns about potential rifts within the party leadership.

However, PTI leadership maintains that the situation remains under control. Party officials continue to emphasise unity and stability in KP governance. The latest statement aims to counter speculation and reinforce confidence in the current leadership.
