The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mild heatwave conditions in southern parts of the country from April 29 to May 3. The warning comes as temperatures are expected to rise above normal levels in several regions. Authorities have urged caution as heat conditions intensify.
The PMD said upper parts of the country may experience a westerly weather system from April 27 to May 5. This system is likely to bring a slight temperature drop of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in those areas. Weather patterns are expected to remain variable during this period.

Southern regions, including parts of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, are identified as heat-prone zones. Temperatures in these areas may reach between 43 to 45 degrees Celsius in May and June. In extreme cases, heatwave conditions can push temperatures up to 52 degrees Celsius.
The department also noted the possible emergence of El Niño conditions during May to July. This climate pattern typically affects global weather systems, including rainfall and temperature trends. Experts warn it could contribute to above-normal heat levels in the coming months.
