Published on: April 22, 2026 9:05 PM

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a sharp rise in temperatures across several parts of the country, with mercury expected to cross 40 degrees Celsius in multiple regions. The heatwave-like conditions are likely to intensify daytime temperatures, particularly in Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab.

According to the forecast, Dadu district may record temperatures up to 44°C, while Jacobabad, Rohri, Mohenjo Daro, and Larkana could reach 43°C. In Balochistan, Sibi and Turbat are expected to touch 42°C, reflecting extreme heat conditions in southern regions.

In Punjab, Dera Ghazi Khan may see temperatures around 41°C, while Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Lahore could reach up to 40°C. Meanwhile, Islamabad is expected to remain relatively milder at 36°C, and Karachi around 35°C. Peshawar may record temperatures close to 37°C.

The Met Office also forecast the entry of a new weather system tonight, bringing rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms to upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This system may provide temporary relief in some northern areas, while southern regions continue to experience hot and dry conditions.
