
Pakistan has decided to enhance airport security and passenger facilitation through a joint strategy between the Interior and Defence ministries. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting focused on improving coordination among relevant institutions. The move aims to strengthen security while ensuring faster services for passengers.
The meeting was chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and attended by senior civil and military officials. Participants included State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, and Defence Secretary Lieutenant General (retd) Muhammad Ali. Senior officials from key security and investigative agencies also participated in the discussions.

Officials agreed to strengthen inter-agency coordination to ensure smooth and quick passenger processing at airports. They also decided to install modern screening equipment and upgrade security infrastructure. Additionally, joint counters and integrated checking systems will be introduced to improve efficiency.
The meeting reviewed progress on the installation of e-gates aimed at speeding up immigration clearance. These systems are expected to reduce waiting times and improve travel experience for passengers. Authorities also discussed implementing single-point screening to minimize delays.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said integrated systems will reduce congestion and save time for travellers. He emphasized that better coordination among departments is a priority for the government. Separately, defence officials shared updates on new equipment to reduce bird strikes and enhance aviation safety.
