Power Division has reported a notable improvement in electricity supply across Pakistan, driven by a sharp rise in hydropower generation. Moreover, officials confirmed that increased water discharge from dams significantly enhanced overall electricity production. As a result, the national load management duration has reduced considerably in recent days.
According to official data, hydropower generation increased by 2,300 megawatts following improved water flow from major reservoirs. In addition, water discharge levels were raised from 8,000 cusecs to 30,000 cusecs, enabling higher energy output. Consequently, hydropower production jumped from 1,800 megawatts to 4,100 megawatts within a short period. This surge played a key role in stabilizing supply conditions.

Furthermore, the improved generation has directly reduced load management duration across the country. Officials stated that power cuts, previously lasting up to six hours, have now decreased to between two and a half and three hours. As a result, consumers in several regions are experiencing comparatively better electricity availability. This change reflects immediate relief in the power distribution system.
Meanwhile, the Power Division spokesperson emphasized that the situation improved significantly during the previous night’s operations. In addition, better coordination in water release and power generation contributed to stabilizing the grid. Consequently, electricity shortages have eased temporarily in multiple urban and rural areas. Officials continue to monitor demand and supply balance closely.

Moreover, authorities linked future stability to the timely availability of liquefied natural gas alongside sustained hydropower generation. In addition, they highlighted that coordinated energy inputs will further reduce dependence on load management. As a result, long-term improvements in electricity supply are expected if current conditions continue. This strategy aims to ensure consistent power delivery nationwide.
Overall, the recent increase in hydropower output has provided measurable relief to the national energy system. Moreover, it demonstrates the importance of efficient water resource management in power generation. Consequently, officials remain optimistic about further reductions in load management hours in the coming weeks. The focus now remains on sustaining this positive momentum.
