Lahore reports surge in monkeypox cases

Published on: April 15, 2026 8:21 PM

Monkeypox cases have increased in Lahore after two new infections were confirmed within the past 24 hours. Health officials reported one male and one female patient among the latest cases. The rise has raised concern among medical experts over possible local transmission.

According to official data, the total number of monkeypox cases in Lahore has reached 30 this year. Hospital sources confirmed that five patients are currently under treatment at Mayo Hospital. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further spread.

Medical experts warned that the increasing trend may indicate community transmission in the city. They advised suspected patients to isolate immediately and follow quarantine guidelines. Health professionals stressed early reporting of symptoms to control the outbreak.

Hospitals have been placed on alert to manage potential new admissions. Surveillance efforts are being strengthened to track and contain infections. Officials are also reviewing contact tracing measures for confirmed cases.
