The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Wednesday announced two local holidays on April 9 and April 10, 2026.
The decision covers most offices within the capital’s revenue limits, while key public services will continue to operate during these 2 days.
According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, both Thursday and Friday have been declared holidays across the capital.
However, departments providing essential services have been exempted from the closure order. These include the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration, Municipal Corporation Islamabad, Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and all hospitals. Staff in these departments will remain on duty to ensure continuity of services.
The district administration stated that the move is aimed at managing official operations during the specified dates while keeping essential services available for residents across the capital.
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Wednesday issued a traffic advisory, informing citizens about strict security arrangements and traffic restrictions in the Red Zone due to movement of foreign delegations.
An ITP official told APP that the Red Zone and its adjoining areas had been closed for all kinds of traffic except official vehicles.
He said citizens were advised to avoid unnecessary travel towards the Red Zone to prevent inconvenience.
The official urged commuters to show patience and cooperate with traffic police during the enforcement of security measures.
He added that Islamabad Traffic Police personnel were present on roads to facilitate and guide the public.
The official said citizens could obtain further updates through ITP’s official WhatsApp channel and social media platforms.

Moreover, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a traffic advisory, informing citizens about planned diversions on Express Highway due to movement of foreign delegations in the federal capital.
An ITP official told APP on Wednesday that traffic diversions would be placed on Express Highway for smooth and secure movement of visiting delegations.
He said citizens were advised to plan their travel accordingly and leave with extra time to avoid inconvenience.
The official urged commuters to show patience and cooperate with traffic police during the diversion period.
He added that Islamabad Traffic Police personnel were present on roads to facilitate and guide citizens.
