Netanyahu urged Trump not to pursue ceasefire during a phone call: Israeli official

An Israeli official has claimed that Benjamin Netanyahu urged Donald Trump not to pursue a ceasefire during a recent phone call, amid escalating tensions in the region.

According to the official, Netanyahu expressed concerns over any move toward a ceasefire, arguing that it could undermine strategic objectives. In response, Trump reportedly stated that a ceasefire would only be considered if Iran agreed to US conditions.

The conditions, as outlined by Trump, include Iran handing over its enriched uranium and providing assurances that it would not resume uranium enrichment in the future. He reportedly emphasized that these demands were non-negotiable.

Meanwhile, Iran’s interior minister claimed a massive public response to a call for national mobilisation. According to the minister, around 12 million people across the country have registered within 10 days to join efforts aimed at defending national sovereignty against the United States and Israel.

The minister said the appeal was made roughly 10 days earlier, urging citizens to support the country’s armed forces. The reported registrations are being presented by Iranian authorities as a sign of strong domestic backing during a period of heightened tensions.

Iranian media also released footage purportedly showing individuals from regions such as Sistan preparing to join the effort, further highlighting the scale of mobilisation efforts.

The developments reflect intensifying geopolitical strains, with diplomatic efforts appearing uncertain. Analysts suggest that differing positions on ceasefire conditions and military responses could further complicate the situation.
