Timely Decisions by PM Shehbaz Sharif Avert Oil Shortage Crisis

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that timely decisions by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif helped prevent an oil shortage in Pakistan. Speaking at a joint press conference with Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik in Lahore, he explained that careful planning and proactive measures ensured reasonable oil reserves despite rising global prices and regional instability.

Attaullah Tarar added that the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Petroleum to take immediate action. The Petroleum Minister and his team worked around the clock to secure oil supplies, preventing disruptions that have affected neighboring countries. Daily review meetings and committee oversight helped maintain consistent oil availability while other nations faced rationing.

He also emphasized that future oil cargoes are being arranged to sustain the country’s reserves. While Pakistan avoided a shortage, Tarar warned that resources are expensive, especially as Gulf crude prices surged from $70 per barrel to $158 per barrel in recent weeks. The government determined local fuel prices based on international markets while limiting additional burdens on the public.

Finally, Attaullah Tarar said that austerity and simplicity remain priorities under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership. All ministries are following measures to reduce unnecessary spending while ensuring oil reserves remain sufficient. These timely decisions and careful planning continue to avert an oil shortage and help Pakistan manage rising global energy costs effectively.
