Coordinated steps for industrial reforms underway in Punjab: Marriyum

Published on: March 5, 2026 1:37 AM

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb while speaking to the media said that under the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, fast-paced and coordinated measures for industrial reforms and economic growth have been underway across Punjab for the past two months. She stated that Punjab has become the first province to undertake comprehensive, policy-level practical measures in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector, aiming to create employment opportunities and enhance industrial production.

The Senior Minister highlighted that amendments to the PPT law, promotion of value addition, skill alignment, and effective measures to reduce energy costs have already been initiated. Sustainable solutions to energy challenges, upgradation of industrial zones, and the creation of a business-friendly environment remain top government priorities. She added that wide-ranging reforms are being introduced to facilitate ease of doing business, and full support and facilities will be provided to both local and foreign investors at every level.

Maryam Aurangzeb further stated that an empowered coordination committee has been established to ensure effective communication between the government and industry. Regular meetings of the committee will continue to maintain alignment between policymaking and implementation.

She emphasized that the Chief Minister is giving special attention to economic growth initiatives, value addition, skill development, and energy sustainability. A comprehensive roadmap has been prepared for the development of the SME sector and all industrial clusters. Through institutional and industrial alignment, an effective model of sustainable economic growth is being developed. Complete reform of the PPT model in Punjab will ensure transparency, efficiency, and the implementation of investment-friendly policies.

The Senior Minister remarked that Pakistan is stabilizing economically and globally, and positive macroeconomic indicators reflect improvement. She noted that maintaining law and order is the Chief Minister’s top priority, with direct monitoring conducted through four key meetings every month. Improved security and stability have enabled the revival of festivals, fairs, and business activities across the province.

Highlighting the confidence of the business community, she said that strengthened law and order has significantly facilitated commercial activities, and large-scale events have been successfully held without any major untoward incident, supported by foolproof security arrangements.

Speaking on the global situation, she said that Maryam Nawaz Sharif has condemned war and emphasized resolving conflicts through negotiations and table dialogue. She stressed that sustainable peace is the foundation of economic stability and growth.

The Senior Provincial Minister reaffirmed that under the leadership of the Chief Minister Punjab, efforts to promote industrial development, attract investment, and ensure economic stability will continue, with the aim of presenting Punjab as a strong and sustainable model of economic growth.
