Jacob Elordi bond rumors cool as casting timeline delays

Published on: February 25, 2026 3:29 PM

Casting speculation around the next James Bond film continues, yet industry insiders say no actor has secured the role. Recently, Jacob Elordi was widely described as a frontrunner for the iconic character in the upcoming project directed by Denis Villeneuve. However, despite strong online discussions, official confirmation remains absent, and the studio has not announced any final decision.

Entertainment analyst and former editor Matt Belloni dismissed the rumors on his podcast, stating that no casting has taken place. He explained that no script has been finalized or delivered, which delays any selection process. Moreover, he added that producers are unlikely to choose the next Bond until spring or summer, making current speculation premature.

Meanwhile, the screenplay is still under development by writer Steven Knight, who continues refining the story for the franchise’s next chapter. As a result, production plans depend heavily on script completion before any casting announcement. Industry sources indicate that the creative team prioritizes the script’s quality before confirming a lead actor for the globally recognized spy series.

In addition, earlier reports suggested that Villeneuve and his collaborators are seeking a fresh face to lead the long-running franchise. Alongside Elordi, actors such as Austin Butler and Harris Dickinson have appeared in public discussions and entertainment reports. Nevertheless, insiders emphasize that these names reflect speculation rather than official shortlists from the production team.

The Bond franchise, known worldwide for its strict casting secrecy, often avoids early confirmations to maintain anticipation and creative flexibility. Therefore, fans should expect further updates only after the script reaches completion and producers finalize internal discussions. Until then, rumors will likely continue, but decision-makers have clearly indicated that the selection process remains open and ongoing.
