In a press release, Minister Shah said the Sindh government had initiated emergency relief, offering free alternative spaces at various city locations and announced that compensation of up to Rs7 billion would be disbursed with the chief minister’s approval. Interim financial assistance of up to Rs500,000 per month is also being provided to the affected shopkeepers until permanent reconstruction is completed.

Shah added that special teams had been formed to enforce fire safety in plazas and markets, directing owners to maintain fire extinguishers, clear emergency exits, and strictly follow safety protocols. Responsibility for any negligence would remain with the management and owners.

Mayor Wahab noted that the first phase would see 350 shopkeepers receive temporary stalls, with parking, basement facilities, security, and deployment of police and wardens already arranged. Registration of traders has been completed in collaboration with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to ensure transparency. Additional land is available if more stalls are needed.
