
At least 15 people were killed and more than 80 injured in an explosion at an imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area. The blast occurred during Friday prayers, authorities said. Emergency services rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said the site has been completely sealed off. Emergency operations were imposed at PIMS, Polyclinic, and CDA Hospital. Assistant commissioners are overseeing the care of injured victims.

Police said a suicide bomber tried to enter the imambargah but detonated explosives when intercepted by people present. Officials fear the casualty count could rise as medical teams continue treatment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the blast and expressed grief over the loss of lives. He directed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to conduct a thorough investigation. Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal was instructed to personally oversee medical care.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry visited PIMS to check on patients. He said the government will provide every possible medical facility. The prime minister warned that perpetrators will face strict punishment.
