SUI, Balochistan: Merak Khan Chakrani, along with 24 militants, surrender to authorities on Friday in Dera Bugti district, marking a significant step in Balochistan ongoing efforts to curb militancy and criminal activity.
The surrender took place at Pakistan House, Sui, during a formal ceremony where the group publicly renounced militancy and announced their decision to join the national mainstream. Officials said the individuals handed over a large cache of weapons and ammunition to local leadership, including Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti.

The group had previously been involved in robbery, extortion, and other criminal activities in the region. Merak Khan Chakrani also announced his membership in the Chakrani Peace Force, pledging to help restore law and order and counter extremist elements.
Authorities described the development as a major success of Operation Raddul Fitan, highlighting the effectiveness of security strategies combined with reconciliation efforts. Officials expressed optimism that other militant and criminal groups would follow suit as peace and stability continue to improve across Balochistan.
The surrender comes shortly after Feb 1, 2026, when security forces thwarted multiple attacks by terrorists affiliated with Indian-sponsored Fitna al Hindustan in several Balochistan districts. During those operations, 92 militants, including three suicide bombers, were neutralised, while 18 civilians and 15 security personnel were killed in prolonged clearance missions, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
