The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated an inquiry into ongoing development projects worth over Rs 1 billion in the provincial capital following serious allegations related to the awarding of contracts under the District Development Initiative.
According to an official letter, complete records of 31 development projects have been sought from the Capital Metropolitan Government (CMG) Peshawar.
The authorities have directed that documentation of all approved schemes be provided to ensure transparency and accountability.
In the letter sent to CMG Peshawar, officials have demanded the submission of Notices Inviting Tenders (NITs), comparative statements, work orders, before-and-after photographs of projects, and GPS coordinates.
The purpose is to assess the progress, quality, and transparency of the ongoing development works.
Officials stated that these projects include construction and rehabilitation of roads, paving of streets, drainage systems including drains and culverts, construction of side walls, and sanitation and cleanliness projects across various union councils in the city and its suburban areas.
The inquiry aims to determine compliance with approved procedures and to ensure proper utilization of public funds. Further action will be taken in light of the findings of the investigation.
